Ryan's Dad showed me a letter tonight that his three sons wrote to him January 1, 1980. It was so funny that I need to share it! The letter reads:
To: Mr. Alan Black
From: Steven, Ryan, and Kevin
Dear Mr. Black,
We the boys existing at the above address would like you to take a minuet our of your busy day to think about a few things of great importance.
Time is so short and once it passes it can never be experienced again. Like as some one famous once said, "As the sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives." (That is my favorite part!)
With this very meaningful fact in mind we would ask that you ponder on what is ahead for you and your family, and of all the memories you have left behind. Wouldn't be nice to be able to pull one of your grand children aside in the future years and show them the baseball bat there father use to spend hours with.
Think of the fond memory you could have as you look at the worn hand grips, chipped paint and faded color of this once loved bat. So for your own peace of mind and love of your children us urge you to invest in a bat soon, before it's to late!
With Love,
Kevin (Head Chairman)
Steve
Ryan
Needless to say, the boys got thier bats!

Very clever! So, why is Ryan a physician instead of the next Babe Ruth? I guess his brain is too big. :)
